The company also serves as a seed processor to cotton seed producers in the region with the cotton seed delintation facility of Taren Tohum A.Ş. established in Urfa.
Taren Engineering, which develops delintation technologies that increase cotton productivity and quality and offers comprehensive services, has achieved rapid growth since its establishment in 2017. Taren, which develops solutions in cotton seed production at the very beginning of the textile supply chain with the slogan 'Let it be Cotton! Founded in Adana by Sercenk Kılıç, who has 20 years of strong experience in the seed sector, Taren Engineering carries out important projects especially in textile markets where cotton is produced.
Defining the delintation process as the separation of cotton seed from fibres, chiffon and foreign materials, Sercenk Kılıç said that they have developed 100% domestic and patented delintation machines (delintır). Kılıç; "We aim to establish delintation facilities for companies in the global cotton and cotton seed sector and to help the Turkish cotton industry increase its market share. We also offer R&D support in this regard. The technologies we develop and the services we offer contribute to the productivity increase of the entire textile industry, especially cotton producers."
Acid delinting is superior to mechanical delinting
Stating that the delinting machine they developed and patented performs the delinting process with acid, Sercenk Kılıç stated that compared to mechanical systems, thanks to this system, the fibres and residues on the seed are completely cleaned.
Kılıç; "In mechanical delinting, fibre and unwanted micro-organisms from the field or ginning still remain on the seed. Acid delinting eliminates these harmful effects in terms of cotton harvest quantity and quality. The delinting seeds are sieved in precision sieving group machines and the hollow light seeds are separated. In addition, in the seed coating process applied for seed efficiency, the seeds delinted with acid are coated more homogenously and the pesticides loaded are better preserved within the seed. In mechanical delinting, on the other hand, the fibres remaining on the seed prevent homogenous coating, and the cleaning brushes in these systems can scratch the seed and damage the embryo inside the seed."
Delintation is essential for productivity
Research and field studies show that acid-delinated seeds achieve much higher productivity than seeds that have undergone sowing or mechanical delintation. The seeds are tested before and after they are drilled, and the seeds with the highest germination ability can be selected. This means using less seed than planting cottonseed. A significant gain in breeding costs can be achieved by planting 2.5 kg of cotton seeds per decare. Provided that the seed quality is adhered to, it is possible to obtain higher yields, that is, efficiency, per acre.
Sercenk Kılıç said that delinted seed strengthens the hands of producers in the fight against diseases and pests in cotton agriculture. . Sword; “The acid and hot air used during the drilling process ensure the destruction of unwanted microorganisms on the surface of the seed. "Thus, a purer seed is obtained," he said.
Kılıç stated that it is advantageous for companies to have their own facilities in terms of delintation, which provides raw material savings and increased yield in cotton production. Sword; “Companies are saved from subcontracting costs by having their own delinte facilities. In fact, it creates a serious income area for the company by carrying out this process for other seed companies. For example; "A facility that processes 5000 tons of rawhide per year can amortize its investment cost in 1 year," he said.
Every place where cotton is produced is our potential market
Reminding that they offer a patented technology in the field of cotton, Sercenk Kılıç explained that they have developed strategies for important cotton and textile countries in the global market. Kılıç continued his words as follows. Our focus is on textile manufacturers, seed producers and spinners who plant their own fields and produce their own cotton. India, Pakistan, China, USA, Brazil, Turkey, Uzbekistan and African countries stand out in world cotton production. All markets have potential for us. We have achieved successful results in the serious work we carried out in some markets under the management of our International Sales and Marketing Director Fırat Hınis. We will share the details with the public soon.”
Announcing that they offer a 50% price advantage to their customers compared to their well-known competitors in the market, Kılıç stated that they provide uninterrupted after-sales service and spare parts supply for the machines. Kılıç stated that after the establishment of the facility, they carried out the first delinting process for the processing of 500 tons of raw cotton, depending on the agreement, and that they provided business and training support to their partners.
Providing information about the export markets, Taren Engineering International Sales and Marketing Director Fırat Hınis underlined that they quickly started their global marketing efforts. Hınis announced that after establishing a representative office in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, they also established a representative office in the Okora-Punjab region of Pakistan. Stating that they continue their efforts to create a representation and sales network in various other regions of the world where cotton is on the agenda, Hınis said the following; “As a matter of fact, we are in intensive negotiations in Africa, I hope that we will introduce this technology to Africa soon. We closely follow all developments regarding cotton and cotton seed processing in the world. We will take part in important fairs and organizations after the global pandemic crisis we are in.”
Turkey's largest delintation facility is Taren Tohum A.Ş. in Urfa.
Referring to the Taren Tohum delintation facility they implemented in Urfa, Sercenk Kılıç gave the following information; “Urfa and this region produce 40% of the total cotton in Turkey. However, there was no delintation facility to meet the needs of the region. Sending seeds outside the region caused serious problems such as loss of time, freight costs and difficulty in tracking. Taren Tohum, which started its operations, has the capacity to process 15 thousand tons of seasonal cotton seeds. There are 7 self-produced delintrators in our facility. It is Turkey's largest cotton seed delintation facility with its installed capacity. We provide trust and convenience to our partners with our experienced staff in this regard.”
Continuing its activities with 20 years of experience, Taren Engineering provides a clear and profitable response at the cotton production stage to meet the demands regarding sustainability, transparent production and protection of resources demanded in the textile supply chain. It creates.
